Do It Yourself: Cat Toy

Hey Everyone! Some of you may know I have a cat named Oliver,  however after some financial struggles and health issues I moved back in with my parents and they have two cats, so the house is full of cats at the moment. With that I decided I would make a cat toy to keep them all occupied. The toy turned out amazing and has been holding up with 3 cats that are obsessed with it (see Bosko in the photo above). So let's get started!

You Will Need:
• Felt
• Leather or Pleather Cording
• Wooden Dowel
• Glue and Glue Gun
• Felt
• Scissors

1 | Begin by cutting your dowel to a foot and a half long. I got my dowel at Michaels and it was about twice as long as I needed. Make sure you get a dowel that is thick enough it won't snap while being played with.

2 | Cut your cording to about 30 inches long. Once cut take your glue gun and begin to glue about 3/4 of an inch into the dowel, wrapping around tightly. Depending on the quality of your glue you may have to use a stronger glue such as E6000.

3 | Next cut your felt pieces. I cut horizontally pieces about 1/2 inch wide. The amount you use is up to you, but more felt pieces make a thicker end which my cats personally like.

4 | Once all your pieces are cut fold them in half and snip a small hole in the middle so you can thread them onto your cord. While threading them on make sure to fan them out like a flower so it sits nicely, looking almost like an octopus.

5 | Once all your pieces are threaded make a double knot at the end of your cord and you're toy is ready to go!

You can really use anything you'd like at the end of your toy, bells, felt, string, etc. The sky is really the limit and you will know what your cats love to play with. This toy is loved by all 3 of the cats in my household and I hope it is loved in yours!

Thanks for reading/watching!
